Kansas City brought up pitcher Donnie Joseph from Triple-A Omaha to replace right-hander Wade Davis, who was put on the paternity leave list Thursday.
Joseph was 3-3 with three saves and a 3.55 ERA this year for the Storm Chasers. Selected by Cincinnati on the third round of the 2009 amateur draft, Joseph was acquired by the Royals last July 31st in the Jonathan Broxton trade.
Davis took the loss in Wednesday's 8-1 defeat to the Yankees in New York. His wife Katelyn is expecting their first child.
A player can be on the paternity leave list for up to three consecutive days.
