A Dubuque Fighting Saints hockey player has been released from the hospital after he struck his head on the ice during a game in Cedar Rapids Saturday night.

Eighteen-year-old Dylan Chanter went into convulsions after hitting his head in the second period of the game against the RoughRiders.

Trainers worked with him until an ambulance crew could take him to the hospital. He was alert when he left the arena. Chanter later sent a Twitter message to his family and friends that he was awake and okay.

The United States Hockey League says the teams agreed to suspend the game, which will be rescheduled later.
