Papillion-La Vista South High School head volleyball coach Gwen Egbert will be retiring from teaching and coaching at the end of the school year, it was announced Friday.
Egbert has taught and coached in the Papillion-La Vista School District for past 26 years. She won six state championships and three national championships. Over the past three years, her record was 119-1 with the only loss to national powerhouse Louisville (Ky.) Assumption. During the most recent state tournament, Egbert notched her 700th win.
“I have always been a goal driven coach and teacher and I believe I have accomplished so many of my goals at the high school level. It is time to move on to new challenges and new goals."
