Hawkeye football player Barkley Hill has been suspended after being charged Saturday with operating while intoxicated. The freshman running back was arrested in Black Hawk County near his hometown of Denver, Iowa.
Coach Kirk Ferentz said in a statement that Hill will face a minimum one-game suspension next season as well as other consequences within the program.
Iowa Athletics Director Gary Barta said he was "extremely disappointed" to learn about Hill's arrest. Barta said Hill will go through the university's student-athlete code of conduct process and will be subject to university sanctions as officials gather information.
Hill attended Cedar Falls High School. He redshirted during the 2012 season. The Hawkeyes finished their season Friday with a 4-8 record after losing to Nebraska 13-7.
