An Omaha native, who is serving his country, has landed a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team. It’s nothing really new for Sgt 1st Class Jason Parker. This will be his fourth trip to the Olympic games.
Parker won the Men’s Three-Position Rifle Match Monday to secure a spot on the Olympic team. In a statement released through the U.S. Army, Parker said, “Everybody goes to the Olympics to win the gold medal and I’m no different. That’s the ultimate goal. But my expectations going over there are to compete hard, represent my country well and do my best and train my best leading up to it.
Parker is a U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit Soldier at Fort Benning, Georgia.
He went to the Olympic games in 2000, 2004, and 2008. His best showing was fifth place in the 2000 for the Men’s Air Rifle, 10 meters event.
