A record crowd of 8,200 fans watched Omaha South win the Class A Boys State Soccer Championship on Monday night. The top-ranked Packers defeated Creighton Prep 1-0 in the finals.
Omaha South's Jose Marquez scored the winning goal with 5:46 left in the match. The Packers finished with a record of 23-0. It was the first state championship for Omaha South since 1990, when the boys basketball team won the state title.
Creighton Prep ended the season with a record of 17-4. Three of those losses came against Omaha South.
