New Royals Check Out New Digs

Nothing like trading sunny Florida for the cold, blustery Midwest in mid-December for James Shields and Wade Davis. The two pitchers arrived in Kansas City on Wednesday to undergo physicals and check out Kauffman Stadium.

Shields and Davis became members of the Royals Sunday night in a blockbuster trade that sent outfield prospect Wil Myers, pitchers Jake Odorizzi and Mike Montgomery and third baseman Patrick Leonard to Tampa Bay. Kansas City will also receive a player to be named or cash.

Last season, Myers batted .304 for the Omaha Storm Chasers with 24 home runs and 79 runs batted in.

Shields is a former All-Star who is expected to be the No. 1 starter for the Royals while Davis expects to shift back to the starting rotation after spending last season working out of the bullpen.
