Catcher and number nine hitter Kyle Skipworth knocked a pair of home runs to lead the Zephyrs to a 4-2 win over the Storm Chasers Sunday afternoon in New Orleans.
The Zephyrs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when Brian Bogusevic was hit by a pitch and Josh Rodriguez stepped up and hit his sixth home run of the season. Skipworth led off the third inning with a homer for a 3-0 lead.
Omaha got on the board in the fourth on back-to-back home runs by Melky Mesa and Francisco Pena, but Skipworth homered again in the seventh for a 4-2 lead.
Elih Villanueva (1-1) went six innings, charged with two runs on six hits, walking one and striking out three. John Lamb (0-5) also went six innings, charged with three runs on four hits, walking two and striking out seven.
