New Orleans' Late Rally Downs Storm Chasers 6-5

The Zephyrs scored twice in the eighth to defeat the Storm Chasers 6-5 Friday night in New Orleans.

Jake Smolinski walked to open the inning and took second on Ben Lasater's ground out. Michael Mariot (1-2) replaced Everett Teaford and walked Koyie Hill before Gorkys Hernandez doubled home both runners.

New Orleans had taken a 4-0 lead into the fifth with two of the runs coming on a Smolinski homer. Omaha scored twice in the fifth and once in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3.

In the seventh inning, Willy Taveras walked and Paulo Orlando singled him to second. Both men advanced on Irving Falu's ground out to first. Christian Colon then singled them in to give Omaha a short-lived 5-4 lead.

Dan Jennings (3-2) picked up the win.
