Taylor Martinez threw two touchdown passes to Kenny Bell and Ameer Abdullah ran for a career-high 167 yards and two scores filling in for the injured Rex Burkhead, leading Nebraska to a 42-13 win Saturday afternoon at Memorial Stadium.
The Huskers' defense bounced back from a shoddy defensive performance in a 36-30 road loss to UCLA, holding Arkansas State's high-scoring offense to two field goals. The Red Wolves' only TD came when Qushaun Lee recovered Martinez's fumble in the end zone.
Nebraska (2-1) limited the Red Wolves (1-2) to 286 yards, 89 in the second half.
Martinez was 13-of-14 for 180 yards.
