The Nebraska soccer team fell 4-1 at Illinois Sunday afternoon.
The Huskers (7-10-1, 4-6-0 Big Ten) entered the game in sole possession of seventh place in the Big Ten standings and with one game remaining on the conference schedule, they will be one of many teams later this week that will be fighting to earn a spot at the conference tournament.
The Fighting Illini (8-7-2, 5-4-1 Big Ten) jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game on a pair of goals from Shayla Mutz, but Mayme Conroy’s 12th of the season at the 39:45 mark put the Huskers down one going into halftime.
Nebraska was unable to get its offense going in the second half and Illinois added two more goals. Illinois was on the attack all day with a 24-12 advantage in shots and the Illini registered seven corner kicks while the Huskers notched only one.
