Moustakas Sent Down To Omaha

The Kansas City Royals announced Thursday they have optioned third baseman Mike Moustakas to Omaha and recalled infielder/outfielder Jimmy Paredes.

The 25-year-old Moustakas, who has lost playing time to Danny Valencia, is hitting .152 for the Royals with just 19 hits in 125 at-bats. He has four home runs and 17 RBIs this season. Last year, he hit .233 with 12 homers and 42 runs batted in.

The 25-year-old Paredes has played in four games with the Royals this season, going 0-for-1 with two runs scored and two stolen bases as a pinch runner. He is hitting .327 (35-for-107) with four doubles, two triples, three home runs and 17 RBIs in 26 games with the Storm Chasers.
