Lindsey Moore became the third first-round pick in Nebraska history, when she was selected with the 12th overall pick by the Minnesota Lynx in the 2013 WNBA Draft on Monday night.

Moore, a 5-9 point guard from Covington, Wash., joined 11 other top collegians at Monday night’s draft live at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn.

Moore joins former Husker WNBA first-rounders Kelsey Griffin (2010) and Nicole Kubik (2000). Moore is also the fourth member of Nebraska’s 2010 starting five to get an opportunity to play in the WNBA, joining Griffin (Connecticut Sun, 2010-13), Cory Montgomery (3rd Round, New York Liberty, 2010) and Yvonne Turner (San Antonio Silver Stars, 2013 Training Camp).

Other Huskers to get drafted or play in the WNBA include Kiera Hardy (Connecticut Sun, 3rd Round, 2007), Danielle Page (Connecticut Sun, Free Agent, 2008) and Anna DeForge (2000-09, Two-Time WNBA All-Star).

Moore led Nebraska to the 2012 NCAA Sweet 16, closing her career as the Huskers' all-time assist leader. She started (132) and won (94) more games than any other player in Nebraska history during her four-year career, while becoming the only Husker starter to play in a pair of NCAA Sweet 16s in her career.

As a senior in 2012-13, Moore led Nebraska to a 25-9 overall record that included a 12-4 Big Ten mark. She averaged 15.1 points, 3.6 assists, 5.7 assists and 1.8 steals, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, 38.2 percent from three-point range and 80.7 percent from the free throw line. She ranked among the top 10 players in the Big Ten in six statistical categories, including No. 1 in assist-to-turnover ratio.

WNBA Training Camp officially begins on Sunday, May 5. The Lynx open their preseason schedule against the Washington Mystics on Saturday, May 18 in Bismarck, N.D. They follow with their final preseason tuneup against Kelsey Griffin and the Connecticut Sun in Minneapolis on Tuesday, May 21.

Minnesota's regular-season opener will be played on Saturday, June 1 at 7 p.m. against Griffin and the Sun at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis. The Lynx are coming off a 2012 season when they advanced to the WNBA Finals.

The Lynx feature a star-studded roster that includes returning Olympians Lindsay Whalen and Maya Moore. Other returning starters include Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson, while Janel McCarville provides a key offseason acquisition for the Lynx. Minnesota is coached by Cheryl Reeve.
