Missouri State won its fifth-straight, downing Creighton 63-55 at D.J. Sokol Arena on Saturday.
The Bluejays (12-10, 6-5 MVC) took a 12-9 lead five minutes into the game, making 5-of-7 shots, including a pair of three-pointers from freshman Taylor Johnson. The Lady Bears responded with a 14-0 run and the Bluejays would never lead again.
Missouri State's (15-6, 8-3 MVC) largest lead of the first half was 12 points at 31-19 with 7:26 left. An 8-0 Bluejay run cut the MSU lead down to four, but the Lady Bears scored the final five points of the half including a steal and lay-up with less than :05 to play to give the visitors a 36-27 halftime lead.
After starting out hot from the field, the Bluejays made only five of their final 22 attempts from the floor in the first half and 10 first-half turnovers led to 14 points for the Lady Bears.
The Jays scored the first three points of the second half to get to within six and would twice more get to within six points, but never any closer in the second half as the Lady Bears became the first Bluejay opponent to twice win at D.J. Sokol Arena.
Sophomore Karly Buer led all players with 20 points, including a three-point dagger late in the second half that gave MSU its largest lead of the game at 14 with just four minutes to play.
Sarah Nelson logged her seventh doubled-double of the season, finishing with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds before fouling out late. Carli Tritz led the team with 17 points, six assists, two blocks and two steals with a season-high nine rebounds.
