Maverick Men Fall To Bradley 3-2

Bradley battled back from two, one-goal deficits to defeat the UNO men's soccer team 3-2 Sunday afternoon in Peoria, Illinois.

Nick Miller and Chava Garcia scored first-half goals for the Mavericks (1-2), but the Braves (2-1-1) overwhelmed UNO in the second half and despite a school-record 12 saves by Matt Grosey, were able to come back.

Bradley tied the game at 1-1 in the 13th minute when Desmond Campbell collected a loose ball inside the six-yard box and put it in, assisted by Ross Williams.

Garcia deflected a shot by Vance Rookwood into the net in the 28th minute for his second goal of the season. Rookwood picked up his second assist and the Mavs led 2-1 at the break.

In the 63rd minute, UNO was whistled for a foul in the penalty area. Keegan Balle drilled home the kick to tie the game 2-2. The Braves had out-shot the Mavs 13-0 up to that point in the second half.

Campbell scored his second goal of the game in the 76th minute, assisted by Williams and Jason Lesch. Bradley out-shot UNO 18-5 in the second half with an 11-0 edge in shots on goal.
