UNO led 4-1 in the seventh and took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but the Mastodons rallied for a 6-5 win Sunday afternoon in Fort Wayne.

Omaha took a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run single by Ryan Keele. IPFW narrowed it to 2-1 in the second before Cole Gruber's single scored Alex Schultz to make it 3-1. The Mavs tacked on another run in the seventh as Alex Mortensen singled home Gruber for a 4-1 lead.

The Mastodons tied it with three runs on four hits in the home seventh. Mortensen drew a walk to open the ninth and scored on Keele's one-out double down the left field line to put UNO up 5-4.

Fort Wayne's Brandon Soat led off the bottom of the ninth with a double. Pinch runner Evan Van Sumeren moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Caleb Fenimore and scored on Markus Kalber's single to center. A walk moved Kalber to second and a wild pitch sent him to third before Malcolm White singled Kalber home.

The victory went to Connor Lawhead (3-4), who gave up one run on one hit in the final inning. Derek Landis (0-2) took the loss, giving up a run on two hits in the final 0.1 inning pitched.

The league-leading Mavericks are now 18-20 (12-4 Summit League) while IPFW improved to 20-23 (8-12 Summit League).
