Zachary Aston-Reese scored three times Friday night and the Stars outlasted the Lancers 4-3 in Lincoln.
Aston-Reese tipped in his seventh of the season 3:25 into the first period. The Lancers tied it up at 15:28 on a centering pass out of the right corner by Matt Gaudreau that found Dominic Racobaldo streaking down the slot who put it in for his seventh of the year.
The Stars regained the lead just over a minute-and-a-half later when Aston-Reese collected a rebound off Lancer goaltender Alex Lyon before swatting in his second of the game at 17:02.
Tucker Poolman backhanded in his league-leading 12th power play goal of the season with just :04 left in period two to tied the game at 2-2.
Lincoln went up 3-2 1:44 into the third period when Vinni Lettieri unleashed a left wing slap shot that sizzled into the back of the net for his 23rd of the year. The Lancers bounced right back and evened the game just over a minute later when Tyler Hynes connected with Grant Besse at the side of the Lincoln net for Besse’s third goal in six games since coming to Omaha.
The Stars would have the final say as Aston-Reese completed his hat trick 11:16 into the period.
