Brad Hawkinson scored the game-winner in overtime and Jackson Teichroeb made 30 saves in goal as the Stars edged the Lancers 3-2 Saturday night in Lincoln.
Lincoln opened the scoring 5:39 into the game on the power play as Luke Johnson sent a seeing-eye shot that found its way just inside the left post. The Lancers tied it up on a power play when Connor Chatham backhanded in his 18th goal of the year at the 17:36 mark.
The Stars regained the lead 13:06 into period two when a second effort by Dominick Shine produced his 23rd of the season for the four-year Lincoln veteran. Omaha would tie the game at 4:49 of the third. Grant Besse won the battle for a loose puck at the side of the net before sending in his first career USHL goal.
The stalemate was finally broken 1:29 into overtime when Hawkinson, fresh off serving a minor for holding, broke out of the penalty box and darted in on the left wing before releasing a shot that was slowed by Lancers goaltender Alex Lyon, but had enough momentum to roll just over the goal line.
