KC Calls Up Bourgeois To Replace Injured Cain

Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain is likely out for the season because of a strained right hamstring. Kansas City has recalled outfielder Jason Bourgeois, who hit .243 in 60 games with Triple-A Omaha.

Bourgeois started in center field and batted leadoff Friday night against the Los Angeles Angels.

Cain sustained a grade-2 strain Thursday night while diving for a ball in the 10th inning at Minnesota. Cain had been limited to 61 games this season because of injuries, hitting .266 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs.

Bourgeois was acquired in March in a trade with Houston. He hit .333 in 19 games during two earlier stints this season with Kansas City. Manager Ned Yost said he would probably platoon David Lough and Bourgeois in center in Cain's absence.
