Boys Town announced today that one of the most decorated female athletes of all time will be featured at this year’s Boys Town Booster Banquet speaker. Jackie Joyner-Kersee dominated the track and field circuit for 13 years where she won four gold, one silver and three bronze medals spanning four Olympic Games.
The Booster Banquet, which benefits and honors Boys Town student athletes will be held on May 7, 2013 at Embassy Suites Omaha-La Vista Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway, La Vista. The Boys Town Boosters were formed to help ensure that any child who wants to play sports could do so. The funds raised ensure each child has the proper equipment, uniform and other necessities.
Sports Illustrated for Women magazine named Joyner-Kersee one of the Greatest Female Athletes of the 20th Century and she was recently selected as the recipient of the 2011 Dick Enberg Award. The Award is presented annually to a person whose actions and commitment have furthered the meaning and reach of the Academic All-America® Teams Program and/or the student-athlete while promoting the values of education and academics.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $90 each or tables of 10 can be purchased for $900. For more information about the banquet or to purchase tickets, go to www.boystown.org/boosters
