Huskers Look To Bounce Back Against Bulldogs

Nebraska practiced for 90 minutes inside the Hawks Championship Center on Friday in preparation for its New Year's Day bowl game against Georgia.

"We practiced well," said head coach Bo Pelini. "This is our fifth practice and we'll have four more next week. They've had good tempo. We've mainly done good-on-good and we'll do some game planning starting next week. It's been a good couple weeks."

Pelini added that center Justin Jackson and defensive tackle Baker Steinkuhler will not play in the Capital One Bowl, but said that I-back Rex Burkhead has been feeling good. "He's been practicing without a brace, without anything. He's ready to go. Other than those two guys that didn't play in the Big Ten Championship Game, we should be pretty healthy going in."

Pelini also said that the Huskers are doing well mentally following the loss to Wisconsin two weeks ago. "They're resilient. They look forward to going out and playing again. They were hurting, but you know what, they are grown men. You move on. That's what you have to do. We'll be ready to go."

Additionally, Pelini said that he's pleased with the way the safeties have been practicing. "We've tackled pretty well at the safety position all year, but we just had one of those games. It wasn't just the safeties, it was across the board. I've been coaching a long time. I've been part of games like that before unfortunately and your challenge is to not let that define you. You'll be defined by how you respond to a situation like that."

The Huskers and Bulldogs face off January 1st in the Capital One Bowl at noon. The game will be televised by ABC.
