Kyle Kubat improved to 4-0 while Chad Christensen and Pat Kelly each had a pair of hits and a RBI in a 3-2 win over Indiana Sunday afternoon in Lincoln.

The teams are now tied for second place at 12-5 in the Big Ten Conference. Minnesota, which lost at Penn State Sunday, is in first place with a 12-4 record.

Kubat gave up a pair of runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two in 7.2 innings. Nebraska dealt Kyle Hart (7-1) his first loss of the season. He gave up three runs (one earned) on seven hits and five walks in 5.1 innings.

Christensen drove in Kelly with the first run of the game in the bottom of the first with an infield single. The Huskers took advantage of a walk and a two-base error in the second, one of four Indiana errors on the day. After Rich Sanguinetti walked with two outs, catcher Chad Clark tried to pick off Sanguinetti but instead threw the ball into right field allowing Sanguinetti to coast to third. Kelly made the Hoosiers pay with a single pushing NU’s lead to 2-0.

Hart issued three straight two-out walks in the fifth. With Michael Pritchard on first with a single, Hart walked Kash Kalkowski, Blake Headley and Tanner Lubach to force in Nebraska’s third run of the game.

With a pair of runners on and two outs in the eighth, head coach Darin Erstad turned the ball over to Dylan Vogt, who gave up a pair of singles that scored two runs before Vogt retired Casey Smith to keep the Huskers in front 3-2.
