Nebraska dropped the second of its three-game series to Northwestern, losing game one of Saturday's doubleheader in Lincoln 3-2.

The Huskers (25-16, 7-4 Big Ten) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth when Jake Placzek walked and took second on a wild pitch. After advancing to third on a ground out, Pat Kelly recorded his 100th career RBI, sending a 1-2 pitch through the left side of the infield.

Zach Jones worked a lead-off walk to start the Northwestern sixth and designated hitter Jack Livingston followed with a double to tie the game at 1-1. After a two-out hit kept the inning alive, Jake Straub knocked in Joe Hoscheit for a 2-1 lead.

Taylor Fish's RBI single in the seventh again tied the score, but the Wildcats (10-24, 4-9 Big Ten) went ahead in the eighth as Matt Hopfner walked and later scored on a Straub fielder's choice.

Northwestern's Brandon Magallones (1-5) went eight innings, allowing two runs on eight hits with three walks and seven strikeouts. Bob Greco (1-1) took the loss in relief.
