Lincoln Police arrested Lauren Cook, a Husker volleyball player, after she allegedly fled the scene of an injury accident Sunday at Noon.
According to Lincoln police, Cook hit a stopped motorcycle near 14th Street and Humphrey Avenue. One person suffered a broken leg, the other was treated at the scene.
Cook was booked on a felony charge of leaving the scene of an injury accident and driving with a suspended license. Her license was suspended October 4th for failure to comply.
Coach John Cook, her father, addressed the issue Monday morning during the weekly athletic news conference.
He said Lauren is still on the team. He said she called 911 and that no alcohol,drugs or texting was involved. Coach John Cook also said that Lauren posted bail and was back at school on Monday
Coach said he hadn't yet decided on discipline.
Lauren Cook, who was headed to the stadium for an exercise program, is a junior setter on the Husker Volleyball team.
Channel Six was able to track down the witnesses to Sunday's accident. William Umana said that he saw the accident through his windshield. He told Channel Six that the female victim went flying over the motorcycle and the male victim was pinned underneath it.
Andra Backer was the other witness. She said that she saw the accident from her backyard and rushed to help.
Both witnesses are thankful no one was seriously injured.
