Heather Thorson had 12 kills leading Creighton to its fifth-straight win, a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) at Indiana State Saturday night to close the first half of the MVC season tied for first place with an 8-1 league mark.
Creighton's 17-3 overall record is two games better than the program's previous best record after 20 matches. The win was Creighton's 14th sweep vs. ISU in the past 15 meetings. Indiana State dropped to 3-16 and is 1-8 in Valley action.
Thorson had four kills in all three sets, finishing with 12 kills on .385 hitting. Leah McNary added eight kills on .438 hitting. Kate Elman led the Jays with 11 digs while Kelli Browning and Melanie Jereb each recorded three blocks. CU finished with 36 kills, three aces, 45 digs and eight blocks on .225 hitting.
The Sycamores were paced by nine kills from Cassandra Willis, who also hit .615 in 13 swings. Erika Nord dished 26 assists while Ashlen Buck had 13 digs to lead all players. ISU finished with 34 kills, two aces, 49 digs and three blocks on .070 hitting.
