Members of the University of North Dakota’s hockey team will probably remember their trip to Omaha for years to come. Not only did the 7th ranked team sweep the 14th ranked UNO Mavericks, they almost never made it home.
While traveling back to Grand Forks Sunday morning, a blizzard forced the team to stop at a truck stop in Summit, South Dakota. The team spent the rest of the night on the bus. They were able to travel another 30 miles before checking into a hotel in Sisseton later on Sunday.
Assistant Athletic Director Jayson Hajdu said the team finally left Sisseton about 2:30pm Monday and arrived home about 6pm.
