Grilling, watching baseball, playing catch are among the things dads enjoy the most. “Lot of fun, just hanging out, throwing the ball, eating some good food,” said Dan Bourne of Omaha.
“It's really fun and I like to go to the College World Series,” said daughter Natalie Bourne, who painted a gift for her father this year. It’s a keepsake for sure, but memories made Sunday will be just as valuable.
That's what Lisa Welsh of Utah was thinking when she was gift shopping this year. “We're big A&M baseball fans so I think that would be his favorite way to spend Father's Day.”
It was a home run of an idea. “I'm so happy to be here,” said Adrian Welsh of Utah. “It was a great Father's Day present basically to come here and see our Aggies play baseball.”
Their son Olson, named for Olson Field in Aggie Country, was loving it. Unfortunately for them, Texas A&M lost 5-4 to South Carolina Sunday night.
Not all fathers were present. “He was a little busy today, but in spirit he's here with us,” said Nick Brown of Iowa. Maybe a quiet day away was just what the Brown brothers’ dad was looking for. Still, they sent their best wishes. “Happy Father's Day, dude! Woo! Happy Father's Day!”
