Sarah Nelson had a career-high 23 points with 11 rebounds and four assists, but it wasn't enough as the Bluejays fell at Evansville 48-45 Thursday afternoon.
Creighton (12-11, 6-6 MVC) shot just 30.5 percent against the last-place Purple Aces (5-18, 2-10 MVC), who shot 44 percent in the second half, getting the game-winning shot from Meagan Collins with 1:32 left. The Bluejays did not make a field goal over the final 3:40 as the Aces ended the game on a 9-2 run.
Nelson went 9-of-16 from the field while the rest of the team was a combined 9-of-43. The double-double was her second straight and team-leading eighth of the season.
The Bluejays led 43-38 after Nelson drained a pair of free throws with 5:57 to play, but could only muster one field goal over the final seven minutes. The Jays still had the lead with less than two minutes to play when Collins drained a three-pointer from the far corner to give the Aces a 47-45 lead with 1:32 to play.
Collins, who scored the final eight points of the game for the Aces, led the team with 18 points and seven rebounds.
