Doug McDermott Wins ESPY as Best Male College Athlete

And the ESPY goes to....Doug McDermott.

Doug McDermott picked up 14 National Player of the Year awards following his recently-completed senior season at Creighton, and on Wednesday night added to his hardware when he was awarded an ESPY as the "Best Male College Athlete". McDermott was one of five finalists in the category.

McDermott finished his senior season that saw him lead the Bluejays to a third straight Round of 32 NCAA Tournament appearance, as he topped the nation in scoring with 26.7 points and added a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game.

McDermott finished his career fifth in NCAA history with 3,150 career points and was the first male to be named a First Team All-American by the Associated Press since 1985.
