Creighton's Super Sisters

Kellie and Sarah Nelson were always competitive growing up.

"We would never finish a game of 1 on 1 because we would always be yelling about fouls and we would get in a fight and eventually start hitting each other," said Kellie.

And they did not always get along.

"I'm pretty sure she hated me. Until she left for college she hated me," said Sarah.

But now older and wiser, they are cherishing their last opportunity to play basketball together.

"It is fun to have one last opportunity to do something great with her," said Kellie.

Making the transition to college is not easy, so Freshman Sarah appreciates having her big sister there to help out.

"Anytime something happens I will talk to her about it and I will be like hey, I didn't have such a good practice," said Sarah. "She will be like don't worry that happens, you are a freshman things like that happen, it is going to keep happening so it is nice. She is always there to support me and help me."

That advice has helped. After coming off the bench to start the season, Sarah started her first game for Creighton last night.

"It is really nice playing with her on the floor instead of just rotating each other out," said Kellie. "I also feel like we have a connection on the floor and I am able to get on her more if she doesn't pass me the ball."

The Jays have come so close to making the NCAA tournament the last few years, and the Nelsons would love nothing more than to finish their last season together in the big dance.

"It would be a great experience to share with my sister, but also a great experience to share with my other seniors and the whole team. I really want it for my last go around," said Kellie.

"They deserve this, because they have gotten so close so many times and have been through so many heartbreaking losses, said Sarah. "It would be fun to help her out along with everyone else that deserves it and have been working so hard for so long. That would be a ton of fun."
