OMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men's basketball team moved up one spot in the Associated Press poll and two spots in the USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll that both were released on Monday. The jumps come on the heels of CU's 71-51 win over Sun Belt Conference favorite North Texas last Friday.
Creighton moved past Michigan State in both polls, and past UCLA in the coaches poll.
Associated Press Poll
With only three ranked teams losing last week (Michigan State, San Diego State and Florida State), most of the rankings stayed similar to last week.
Indiana remained in the top spot after a 97-54 win over Bryant. Louisville, Kentucky, Ohio State and Michigan round out the top-five in both polls. Creighton is the only MVC team currently earning votes in the coaches poll, while Northern Iowa received four votes in the AP poll.
Creighton was ranked as high as No. 15 in two different weeks last season. The Jays reached No. 15 the week of January 23rd, then moved to a season-best No. 13 ranking one week later. Creighton has previously been ranked in the top-15 of the AP poll during the 1973-74, 1974-75 and 2002-03 seasons as well.
Creighton hosts UAB on Wednesday at 7:05 pm at CenturyLink Center Omaha.
