Creighton played another double-overtime game at the Stihl Classic in Norfolk, Virginia on Sunday, but this time fell 3-2 to William & Mary for their first loss of the season.
William & Mary (2-2-1) scored the game-winner on a long cross from left to right into Jeff Bombelles, who registered the deciding score in the 107th minute.
As in Friday’s 2-1 double-overtime win against host Old Dominion, Creighton (4-1-0) trailed early but came back to claim a 2-1 lead.
The Tribe scored early on a goal by Josh West at 3:26 to take a quick 1-0 lead. Creighton freshman Marvin Iskra scored his first career goal as a Bluejay in the 11th minute, beating Tribe goalkeeper David Phillips after a scramble in the box to tie the score at 1-1.
In the second half, Sean Kim scored his second goal of the season to give the Jays a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute. Phillips saved a shot from CU junior Eric Miller, but Kim headed the ball into the net off the rebound for the score.
William & Mary tied the match at 2-2 in the 82nd minute on a goal by Chris Albiston.
