The Sarpy County Sports Commission is preparing to officially unveil an original sculpture of baseball great and Omaha native Bob Gibson. The curtain will drop at Werner Park on April 11th.

The sculpture was originally unveiled in June 2012.

A banquet will be held the night before the second unveiling at the Embassy Suites in La Vista. Tickets go on sale February 11th. A website will be activated by then to purchase tickets.

Creighton University artist-in-residence Littleton Alston was commissioned to design the larger than life sculpture. It stands eight-feet-tall depicting Gibson delivering a pitch. The entire project was funded through private donations.

Gibson pitched 17 seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals during his Hall of Fame career. He has made Sarpy County his home for more than 30 years.
