Matching a season-high of six goals, the Creighton women's soccer team cruised by Idaho 6-1 Sunday afternoon in Omaha.
The win lifted the Bluejays to 3-2-0, matching their win total from all of last season (3-13-0). Idaho fell to 0-5-0.
Fresh off her Big East defensive player of the week honor, senior Kelsey O'Donnell got the Jays going with a goal and an assist in the opening period. O'Donnell's goal came on a free kick along the right side from 35 yards at 15:34. It was set up by an Idaho foul and yellow card assessed to Amanda Pease.
Midway through the period it was O'Donnell setting up fellow defender Jill Richgels along the left side. O'Donnell sent the ball past a defender to give Richgels a one-on-one path to Vandal goalkeeper Marina Siegl. Richgels slipped her shot into the right corner of the net to make it 2-0 in the 37th minute.
Just :40 later, Lauren Cingoranelli found Kyla Booker in the center of the field for her first goal as a Jay to make it 3-0. Creighton added a fourth goal on a header from freshman Ylenia Sachau in the second half.
Idaho got on the board in the 63rd minute via an unassisted goal from Alyssa Pease, but Kirstyn Corder put the match away with goals in the 69th and 73rd minutes.
