Creighton took advantage of two costly Wichita State errors in a 6-5 win Friday night at Wichita.

After giving up two runs in the fourth on two walks and two hit batters, the Jays roared back with four runs in the top of the fifth. Reagan Fowler starter the rally with a walk. Trying to put down a bunt, Kevin Lamb was hit by a pitch, then Brennan Murphy drew a walk to load the bases. One out later, Ryan Fitzgerald bounced to short, but the ball was muffed and everybody was safe. Brad McKewon stroked a single, Federico Castagnini lifted a sacrifice fly and Jake Peter lined a single to make it 4-2.

After the Shockers got a run back in the fifth, Creighton took advantage of another error to score two more runs in the sixth. Lamb and Murphy singled before Michael Blatchford bounced a slow roller to third. Wichita State's Tyler Baker tried to get Murphy at second, then the relay throw went into the Shockers' dugout allowing both Lamb and Murphy to come home.

Up 6-3, the Jays turned to Mark Winkelman, who retired the first 10 men he faced before running into trouble in the ninth. Wichita State made it interesting, touching Winkelman up for two runs and putting the tying run at second. Creighton then turned to Bryan Sova who induced a weak fly ball for the third out and pick up his third save of the season.
