Creighton edged Drake 3-2 in double overtime in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Friday afternoon in Peoria, Illinois.
Freshman Vincent Keller scored his second goal of the season in the 107th minute to give the Bluejays a come-from-behind victory. The Jays improved to 14-3-2 on the season while Drake dropped to 6-11-4. Creighton will face the winner of the second semifinal Friday night between second seed SIU-Edwardsville and sixth seed Central Arkansas in the conference final at 1 p.m. Sunday.
The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the 33rd minute as Brian Grand scored his second of the year from the left side to beat CU goalkeeper Jeff Gal and give Drake a 1-0 lead.
After the break, the reigning MVC Player of the Year and current MVC Freshman of the Year paired up to tie the score as Jose Gomez blasted a shot past Rich Gallagher on a feed from freshman Timo Pitter in the 56th minute. The goal was the fifth of the year for Gomez and the third helper of the season for Pitter.
Just :34 later, Creighton took a 2-1 lead in the 57th minute. Eric Miller scored his first career goal off of a header. The lead did not last long as Drake's Michael Thaden knotted the score at 2-2 in the 60th minute.
