Senior Bryan Sova tossed his second straight complete game and Creighton held on for a 2-1 win over Seton Hall Saturday afternoon in New York City to earn a spot in Sunday's Big East Tournament championship game.
The Bluejays (32-16-1) scored their runs after two were out in the third. Jake Peter singled to right and Mike Gerber tripled him home. Reagan Fowler followed with a double to score Gerber.
Chris Chiaradio led off the Pirate sixth with a triple and scored on a Derek Jenkins single up the middle.
The rest was up to Sova (6-1), who gave up five hits while striking out five and not walking a batter. Luke Cahill (10-2) went seven innings giving up seven hits, striking out two and walking one.
Creighton will face the winner of Saturday afternoon's Seton Hall-Xavier game.
