USA Today says the high school football rivalry between Norfolk Catholic and Pierce is the best in the state. The newspaper reported the Class C1 teams as the best high school rivalry in Nebraska after fans voted on three finalists.
Norfolk Catholic and Pierce are perennially two of the top teams in Class C1 and they played for the state title in 2010 and 1999. This year, Pierce handed Norfolk Catholic its only loss of the regular season before Norfolk Catholic beat Pierce in the playoffs en route to the title.
The two other finalists were Scottsbluff-Gering and Millard North-Millard South.
Online voting at www.usatodayhss.com will determine whether the Norfolk Catholic-Pierce rivalry is the best in the entire Midwest.
