Basketball Times has named the Creighton men's basketball program as one of the nation's best 10 in college basketball for the second time in five years.

Creighton is tied for ninth in this year's rankings after placing seventh in the most recent of the semi-decennial rankings from November 2007.

In a story published Thursday by Jack Styczynski, the magazine evaluates squads based on head coach ranking, winning percentage, NBA players, federal graduation rate, US News & World Report academic reputation and program cleanliness.

For the third straight time, Duke tops the Basketball Times ranking of
Division I programs that have won two-thirds of their games over the past 10 seasons. A record 33 schools made the cut in 2012.

Creighton's Greg McDermott was tabbed 18th in the head coach ranking, ahead of NCAA champion head coaches such as Jim Boeheim and John Calipari. The Jays ranked 23rd in winning percentage (.693), tied for 22nd in NBA players (2), 13th in federal graduation rate (63%) and sixth in U.S. News & World Report academic reputation (82). The Jays were also voted ninth in program cleanliness.

Creighton is the only MVC team in the newly-released rankings and joins Duke, North Carolina, Gonzaga, Michigan State and Kansas as teams to repeat a spot in the top-10 from five years ago. Only 18 schools among this year's 33 were also listed in the 2007-08 rankings.

Ranked 16th by The Associated Press in the preseason poll, Creighton opens the 2012-13 exhibition season this Friday with a 7:05 p.m. game vs. University of Mary. The Jays then open the regular-season on November 9th with a 7:05 p.m. game vs. North Texas.
