Abdullah Focuses on Education in Keynote Address

Lofty honors for a Husker Tuesday as the Big Ten Media Days wrapped up in Chicago. NU I-Back Ameer Abdullah served as keynote speaker at the Media Days Luncheon where he turned the spotlight on education.

Abdullah had a chance to enter the draft last season but decided to stay in school.

In Chicago Tuesday, he told the crowd, “What is asked of a student athlete? The fundamental attributes of a student athlete, now we all know a student athlete participates in college life. But to me that does not encompass the true essence of a student athlete. To me the true essence of a student athlete is someone who has the desire to educate themselves academically, athletically, and personally."

Abdullah picked up dozens of awards for his talents on and off the field last season and and if he keeps it up this fall he could be in the running for the Heisman trophy.

You can watch his complete speech from the luncheon in the video above.
