Omaha Mavs Bring Home Junior Hockey Title

WAYNE, N.J. — Christopher Wilkie scored the game-winner on a pass from Jack Suter with four seconds remaining in the USA Hockey national championship Sunday, and the Omaha Jr. Mavericks Bantam AA's won 4-3 over the Southern Rhode Island Jr. Rams to claim the title in the 14-U 2-A Tier II division.

Wilkie scored twice and Suter and Gunnar Rowswell also scored for the Mavericks, and goalie Jason Bruckner made 26 saves.

The Mavericks trailed 3-2 after the Rams got the puck by Bruckner with 11:29 remaining in the third period. Rowswell then finished off a pass from Matthew Bracciano with 5:14 left, knotting the game at 3 and setting up Wilkie's game-winner.

Wilkie and Ethan Price led Omaha with 10 points each in the six-game championships, while Suter's goal Sunday was his team-leading seventh of the tournament.
