The Huskers practiced in full pads for two hours Tuesday afternoon. Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson discussed the team's preparation heading into the battle with Kansas State for the Big 12 North title.

"We put in our base plan and took a look at some new things and things we want to look at. It was a good day. We have a lot of cleaning up to do. We'll revise our plan and start looking at situational stuff."

Watson spoke briefly on Kansas State's personnel and how NU will be facing a different defensive front from what they have seen in recent weeks.

"They've changed personnel around from the beginning of the season," Watson said. "(At) probably about the midpoint of the season they made some changes and manipulated what they were doing with their structure a little bit. We've got a little bit of a new front that we're facing so we have some new things to learn from that."

Watson also commented on quarterback Zac Lee coming into his own during the Huskers' last two games. He said Lee had to sit back and evaluate the situation he was placed in earlier in the season.

"What I've seen in Zac is that he wanted to play and wanted to be out on the field. Given his opportunity, he came back and he had his chance to play. He grasped what we were trying to get him to grasp and that was just managing the game of football. You start there and go on. He's done a nice job in the last two games of doing that, managing wins."

Nebraska will celebrate its seniors on Saturday and Watson could not be prouder of the effort he has seen from this group of players. "The guys have been relentlessly working. We've had a lot of things to work through and I'm really proud about how they've hung in there with each other and how they've worked."

The Huskers will return to the practice field Wednesday afternoon.
