UNO and Southwest Baptist battled to a 1-1 tie Thursday afternoon in Bolivar, Missouri.
The match was scoreless until senior midfielder Lindsey Nealon put the Mavs up 1-0 in the 71st minute with her third goal of the season.
With just under five minutes to go in regulation, SBU's Lindsey Boden found the back of the net at 85:46.
The teams played 20 extra minutes, but neither team could tally a game winner. The Mavs were outshot a combined 7-3 in the two overtime periods, but UNO did fire two shots on goal during the extended time.
The Mavericks were outshot 19-11 in the match, the first time in 10 games that UNO has been outshot or given up more than 10 shots defensively.
Goalkeeper Lauren Fox made five saves, including one in the second overtime period.
The tie leaves UNO two points behind Truman in the race for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics title. The Mavs remain unbeaten in their last 10 matches, but need a win Saturday to secure their first ever MIAA title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
Truman picked up a 2-0 win against Emporia State Thursday and finished its 2009 season with 40 points in the conference. A tie Saturday would leave UNO a point behind the Bulldogs, putting its fate for the NCAA tournament on hold until Monday when the NCAA releases the 2009 brackets.
The Mavericks (13-4-2 overall and 12-1-2 in the MIAA) close out the regular season at Central Missouri (11-5-2, 10-3-1 MIAA) on Saturday.
