Nebraska's quarterbacks have shed their no-contact green practice jerseys in a move that offensive coordinator Shawn Watson says will help him decide who starts against Iowa State.
Watson said after Tuesday's practice that he wants Zac Lee and Cody Green, along with Latravis Washington, to get a "true sense of what it's like in a game all the time."
Watson said no quarterback or running back is tackled to the ground at practice, but they "get thudded up."
Green is challenging Lee for the starter's job after Lee struggled in the 31-10 loss to Texas Tech.
Watson said it helps him evaluate Green and Lee's poise in the pocket and their passing ability when they are not off-limits for contact.
