Sidney Ponson tossed eight shutout innings and Victor Marte pitched a perfect ninth for his first save as the Royals defeated the RedHawks 2-0 Monday afternoon in Oklahoma City.

Ponson (1-1) scattered six hits, striking out three and walking two. Guillermo Moscoso (2-1), who surrendered just one run on two hits while striking out five batters over six innings, took the loss.

Travis Metcalf singled home Mario Lisson in the fifth to give Omaha a 1-0 lead which stood until the eighth inning when Metcalf doubled and scored on an Irving Falu single.
