Former Nebraska and Millard South pitcher Brian Duensing was called up from the minors by the Minnesota Twins Thursday afternoon and will be in uniform when the Twins host the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
The 26-year-old Duensing was on the Twins’ opening day roster and made one appearance before he was sent to Triple-A Rochester in mid-April. In that outing, he allowed two runs on two hits over three innings in a win over the Chicago White Sox April 10th.
He has been a starter in Rochester, going 4-6 with a 4.66 ERA, fanning 44 and walking 19 in 75 innings of work.
Duensing was a third-round draft pick of the Twins in 2005 after compiling a 17-2 record as a Husker from 2002-2005.
Minnesota sent down reliever Sean Henn who posted a 7.15 ERA in 14 appearances since having his contract purchased on May 19th. The left-hander had allowed just two runs over his first seven appearances (seven innings), but he has posted a 14.54 ERA over his past seven outings (4.1 innings), allowing seven runs while issuing five walks.
