Eric Morris scooted one yard around right end for a touchdown in overtime and Jamar Wall made the score stand up for Texas Tech with an interception as the Red Raiders defeated Nebraska 37-31 Saturday afternoon in Lubbock.

Tech left the door open for the Huskers to win it with a touchdown and extra point when the Red Raiders botched the PAT after Morris' score.

But the mistake didn't cost them. Joe Ganz, who threw for 349 yards for Nebraska, was scrambling and trying to throw the ball away on the Huskers' second play of OT when Wall intercepted along the sideline to end the game.

Graham Harrell, who threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, was 20-of-25 for 284 yards.

Late in regulation Harrell threw a 47-yarder to Michael Crabtree on fourth-and-5 from the Red Raiders 36 to keep Texas Tech's drive alive after Nebraska tied it at 24 midway through the fourth quarter.

A few plays later Harrell took it in on a sneak to put Tech up 31-24.

Ganz brought the Huskers back quickly. Todd Peterson caught two passes from Ganz for 11 yards each en route to completing a 17-yarder for a TD to cap an eight-play drive in 1:52, the shortest possession for the Huskers all day.

Nebraska trailed throughout, but got back in on a gamble. Trailing 24-10, Jake Wesch came in to hold for a field goal early in the fourth quarter, but instead threw for a first down to Mike McNeill on a fake to give Nebraska a first down at the one.

Ganz took it in for a score with a quarterback sneak to pull Nebraska to within 24-17 with 12:10 remaining. After holding Texas Tech to its first three-and-out, the Huskers went 68 yards to tie it at 24-24 with about six minutes remaining. Ganz hit Dreu Young for a 2-yard TD score.

Nebraska did a good job of keeping the ball out of the hands of Texas Tech's high-powered offense. The Huskers had a balanced attack, running the ball almost as many times as they passed. They got their lone score of the first half following an eight-minute drive and the Huskers got such good yardage on first and second downs that they rarely faced much on third down.

But Texas Tech was able to score more in half the time the Huskers held the ball. After holding onto the ball for more than five minutes late in the first half, Nebraska came up short on a fourth-and-1 at the Texas Tech 30.

The Red Raiders wasted little time with Harrell hitting Edward Britton on a 56-yard pass to the Nebraska nine. Three plays later, Shannon Woods went four yards into the end zone to put the Red Raiders up 17-7.

Niles Paul returned the ensuing kickoff 69 yards to the Red Raiders 31 before Mike Smith got called for holding on back-to-back plays. Nebraska was forced to go for a field goal, but Alex Henery wasn't able to get enough on it from 53 yards out as the first half ended.

Crabtree got the Red Raiders first score and a school record for career TDs (31) when he caught a quick slant and went untouched through the Huskers secondary for 35 yards for a 7-0 lead.

Nebraska came in knowing it had to hang onto the ball in order to slow Tech's offense. On their first TD drive the Huskers did just that, running the ball 10 times during of a 15-play drive. Quentin Castille finished it off on a 4-yard TD run to tie it at 7-7 early in the second quarter.

I WOULD LIKE to say that I am a big HUSKER fan!!! after watching the game on saturday, I Must say i was impressed with the performance of our team. I would like to applogise to the team, theprogram, and BO and his staff. yeah i know were making mistakes, but at least we are trying with the players we got. lets face it husker fans we have no talent on this team. and thats not to say that I am putting the team down, I am just saying that Bo is doing his best the players he has. I would like tosay that in defense of Bo that he is doing areally good job!! and i am so glad that he is our head coach!!! I WOULD also like to respond to the idiots that want him gone! did you people honestly think that when he was hired as our coach that we are all of a sudden going to start winning championships right out of the gate? or did people forget at the news conference that this is not going tobe aquick fix. it will take time, but I BOlieve that with BO as our head coach we willbe getting this program back

I myself woke up Sunday morning in a fantastic mood...more so for the Missouri LOSS than anything else. Methinks MU will lose to Texas as well, and right now the KU game looks like a toss-up as well. Huskers stand a good chance against Kansas, too, IF they play as well as they did Saturday.

WHAT?! Give me a break, you can't be serious suggesting that Bo go after 6 games?! Remember, these are NOT his recruits. After winning TWO National Championships under Devaney, T.O. came in & went 8 & 2, and fans were calling for his head. The players love Dr Tom & Coach Bo and want with all their hearts & abilities to WIN! It takes a few years to get the talent he needs to operate his system. He is doing as good of job as expected. What the team needs is a disciplined defense. He had a good plan in the Texas Tech game & if it weren't for mistakes (penalties & interception), they would have won. Bo has FIRE! He motivates the kids! So, get off Bo's back & let him coach! They need to play disciplined football! Stop worrying about the points spread and rankings and PLAY DISCIPLINED (penalty-free) ASSIGNMENT FOOTBALL!! STOP ridiculing & be thankful that all your failures are NOT on Television for everyone to see! Husker bashers can feel free to MOVE! Call me & I'll help you load the truck!

I am not a Husker fan anymore till Bo goes. Jumping on the Bo got to go band wagon now.

I think it is all you so called loyal Husker football fans that need to go. You all complained when Callahan was coach as to why they let Bo go the last time and now that he has a chance to make his mark you all jump ship. Why don't you all get behind your team and give Bo a chance. I have been a fan since the 60's and have not believed my ears/eyes this season. I could see last year and prior year the concerns, but Callahan is gone and a new coach needs time to establish his footing. Give him a chance and some support just might take the team a long way. Thanks Go Huskers.

The only way Nebraska will win is if they play high school teams. I agree with some of the others that Bo has to go!

Posted by: Boliever on Oct 13, 2008 at 10:40 PM
First off I'm glad to see Missouri loose the game and only because Chase Mcdaniels is a baby but that is another story. Second off Yeah we did lose the game and I'm not going to say great job a loss is a loss. Third I don't think most of you are giving Texas Tech any credit. They are a good football team and ranked accordingly. We did play a great game against them and are definately improving as a team so good on you HUSKERS for improving. Fourth like I have always said give it time we are on the uphill battle and will be a power house once again with time. Fifth yeah Ganz makes mistakes and alot of them but he did play a great game saturday with the exception of the last minute throw that caused the interception. And let me tell you I am the first to yell at home when he does something dumb but he is what we have and we will have to make due. True Husker fans hang in there we are going to get there be patience. For the rest of you that have nothing good to say don't say it at all

Posted by: Wonder on Oct 13, 2008 at 06:12 PM
To Wonder.....who is throwing in the towel??? The Huskers had some idiotic, sub Division 1 mental mistakes and should be called out on it. End of story. Maybe you should read with a little more attention to detail.

Posted by: Jamie on Oct 13, 2008 at 04:26 PM
WOW...there is so much tension. Yeas a loss is a loss but we sure did look better than the week before! Get rid of BO?! Why? HE actually shows some emotion about this team and wants to be better. It will take some time. If we keep highering and firing we are never going to get anywhere and no one will want to coach us and recruiting...yeah right! Who will want to come here when we pay musical chairs with the coaching staff! We need to be patient and give Bo a chance! All you negative people should know better by now!!

basically nebraska's best game is still worse than Techs worst game

Posted by: Jim on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:24 PM
Nebraska is in a sad state of football times and with Bo's help is going downhill propelled by a rocket. Bo has to go!

Posted by: Steve on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:16 AM
I can't believe how many people on here are congratulating NU and saying how 'Nebraska is back' etc. etc. Here's a news flash husker fans....Nebraska just lost their third game in a row...moral victories are for chumps.

Posted by: BooBoo on Oct 13, 2008 at 11:05 AM
The Huskers will fool all of you so called loyal fans when they beat a team this season who they are not expected to. In my eyes they sure look like an improved team even if they are not T.O. era comparable yet. Bo is doing a fine job of coaching and it looks like his style of discipline had a positive impact. Sorry, but these guys can stand toe to toe with the competition. Keep up the good work, guys. Your day is coming.GO HUSKERS!!

Posted by: pk on Oct 13, 2008 at 09:21 AM
The Huskers have played so poorly for so long, we get excited over this lose. We need to get back to the top. Maybe we haven't found the right coach yet. Our season will end 5 and 7

Posted by: Ryan on Oct 13, 2008 at 07:17 AM
Once again the Huskers prove they CAN NOT stand toe-to-toe with anyone in their division. To get back to the greatness of the Osbourne years, I suggest Nebraska (joke of the Big-12) get out of the Big-12 and join a Pee-Wee league. If folks want to watch a true National Championship caliber team, watch the Lady Husker Volleyball team! As for the football team, once again I ask they question: Is it too early as begin the comparison between the Cornhuskers and Cornflakes? Yes, cornflakes get soggy in milk, but at least THEY BELONG IN A BOWL!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 13, 2008 at 12:24 AM
Osborne era great? You're joking right?

Posted by: redfan on Oct 12, 2008 at 03:59 PM
Huskers did a great job and should hold their heads high. Not meaning to come off like a arm-chair QB-Jerk here...If the NU QB had managed to throw the ball out of bound as intended...would have PROBABLY been flagged as intentional grounding. Decision making/play making under stress is not something that can be coached or taught...either you have it or you don't... The current NU starting QB is perfectly acceptable and adequate for this position at this point of the the program. My 5 y/o daughter and my 70 y/o mother can throw a perfect spiral to me without a pass rush... However, my daughter is smart enough to know when to cover the ball...something I haven't taught her yet. but an inherent 6th sense of things...either you have it or you don't...

Great job Nebraska,we will go all the way because of the way we beat Texas Tech... oh wait its another loss to a big 12 team we are in a bunch of trouble... OU is way to good for the huskers this year i guess its another re-building year! what are they gonna do any team with any talent at all NE is getting beat up! we still have baylor & Iowa state we should be in their class of team... we need all the help we can get

Posted by: tom on Oct 12, 2008 at 02:30 PM
OUR HUSKERS looked good just like the OSBORNE ERA GREAT job players and coaches. Lets keep geeting better and better. I won't give up on our team. It will take alot of time and good recruites to get good players interested in the BIG RED. If they played like sat they should winn the rest of the games even OKLAHOMA. GO BIG RED

Posted by: Shana on Oct 12, 2008 at 01:27 PM
This for who ever Wow is...Texas Tech is overrated?? They still beat your little Husker boys..a loss is a loss. And again Nebraska lost! Nebraska is a not even a good team anymore like they were years ago with Tom Osbourne. Stop crying about it and pick a new team. My favorite team is...anyone who beats Nebraska! nebraska has been overrated for MANY years.

Posted by: Scott on Oct 12, 2008 at 12:02 PM
Whew, I almost didnt get to post, but low and behold, "Wonder" stumbled in here and started his whining. Thanks Wonder, now I know I woke up in Nebraska again. How did that little league flag football team you assist with do yesterday?? Nice job Skers, it will still be quite a while until games like yesterdays beome the norm but was great to see you finally want to play with some passion. One more thing, we need to thank whomever it was that spit in Chasey boys eye last week, it must still be effecting his vision....lmao.

Posted by: To Wonder: on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:53 AM
Hey-- way to throw the towel in on our new coaching staff already. This is a team that was not coached at all for 3 years. We can't expect it to be over night. I agree the penalties need to stop-- but they were in the game until the last play. It was an actual football game. Of course we didnt want to see the Huskers lose-- but it's better than seeing them blown out. I think they're making progress.

Posted by: Faithful fan on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:27 AM
Hey wonder,is it just possible that Texas Tech is a good team, but on Saturday Nebraska showed up and played well against a worthy opponent. Sounds like you need to just go jump on a bandwagon to cheer for a winning team, I hear Texas won yesterday, I suppose today your new favorite cheer is "hook 'em horns".

Posted by: Bluejay on Oct 12, 2008 at 09:27 AM
A loss is a loss. The huskers should beat Iowa State, Baylor and K State, but they will lose to Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado. Six and six, worse if Ganz gets hurt.

Posted by: Pete on Oct 12, 2008 at 08:27 AM
So Lori if the Big 12 is mediocre, which I do not agree with. Does the make the SEC mediocre as well? I mean LSU gopt beat by almost 40 points. Auburn got beat by a horrible Arkansas team and Tennesee palyed well against Georgia. As far as Bo apologizing, thats what he does, thats what he will always do regardless if its right or wrong. We do need to stop beating ourselve, but if you read any of the preseason articles we were picked to finsh either 3rd or 4th in the Big 12 North. So let Bo rebuild the team, unless you can do better. If not, keep your Sunday morning QB'ing to yourself. And why not blame everyone? Our kicker missed a field goal, yes the defense was not very good, but in the last 2 weeks we played 2 of the top 3 offenses in the NCAA. One of which we held them almost 200 yards under their average.

It's Great that Nebraska is getting beat on, after all isn't that what they did to teams in years past, How does it feel.

Posted by: Bob on Oct 12, 2008 at 06:49 AM
It's not a surprise that we lost, but we did play good. Wish we would have played this good last week.

Posted by: Lori on Oct 11, 2008 at 11:46 PM
Personally I think the entire Big 12 looks mediocre right now. Missouri got beat by Okie State (as I predicted last week) and Chase can kiss his Heisman goodbye. The Huskers did look good today and they were 20-point underdogs, so I will take this. I WANT Bo to STOP apologizing. There's hardly a kid on the field right mnow that wasn't recruited by Callahan but Bo is sticking with them. Do NOT blame the players (although that last interception by Ganz was TOTALY uncalled for)...blame the defense for not double- or triple-teaming Crabtree. AND stacking the box on 4th and 4 from TTU...live by the blitz and you will die by the blitz. And BOB, some of those penalties were questionable, just like last week. But I agree, we've got to STOP beating ourselves.

Posted by: How Funny on Oct 11, 2008 at 11:38 PM
Isn't it funny. Several years ago, fans weren't even happy with a win, unless NU blew the other team out of the water. Now, they are happy with a loss, as long as it was close!!!

Bo, for every penalty they incur in the future make them run suicides and/or stairs. Run till they throw up, and run somemore. You are doing great - it's the stupid mistakes by the players that have cost Nebraska. If they can't pull their heads out, then play the younger kids that are hungry to try.

Posted by: Bob on Oct 11, 2008 at 10:38 PM
Dave, something tells me you were a "filure" in school. Huskers, I've seen high school teams play with more discipline, 15 penalties?

Posted by: Wonder on Oct 11, 2008 at 10:32 PM
Husker Fan apparently didn't watch the same game. Texas Tech was mediocre at best. Tell you what....meet me back here on this site towards the end of the season and we'll see where Texas Tech ends up. Sound fair? Texas Tech was inept with the exception of M. Crabtree, which we chose NOT to cover in the end zone and left open on 4th and 4. Please, just someone TRY to justify that.

Posted by: stan on Oct 11, 2008 at 10:28 PM
Dave, who cares what you think. It doesn't negate the fact that Ganz has thrown game killing interceptions in key games at key times. The offense has stalled inside the 30 on multiple occasions due to STUPID offside or holding penalties. THIRTEEN penalties and the game had 4 minutes left!!! That's BUSH league. That's NOT Division 1 football. P.S. I DID play AND graduated. What's your resume look like?

Posted by: Randall on Oct 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM
Never thought I'd see the day. Husker fans happy, even excited, about 'the improvement / we're getting better' in a loss. Times have sure changed. The team that blew us out last week was held to only 23 points by Okalahoma State. We ALMOST beat Texas Tech. Big deal. That beat nobody that is relevent, and that includes the Huskers. Last year it was there is plenty of talet on the Nebraska team but poor coaching. Suddenly this year it is that we we just don't have that many talented players. Just wait until Bo gets his recruits in here. What a munch of crap. At least it is good for a chuckle listening to it.

i think that nebraska has finally got their swagger back and they are finally getting the respect they deserve BO great job coach and Shawn Watson Fantastic Play Calling and joe dont worry about that mistake you just have to get back on the horse and take this team to the promise land if they can come together for the rest of the season like they did today i think it will be extremely hard for them to not go 6-0 or even 5-1 either way they would get a bowl it would be the best way to start a coaching career 10-3 or 9-4 GBR!!! we are back the right track lets make some noise for the rest of the year! Bob Stoops better be watching because that very well could happen in norman 3 weeks from now!!!!! (HUSKER NATION HAS SPOKEN!!)

    Man Texas Tech is overrated!!!

Posted by: LLR on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:54 PM
WHY would you not double-team Crabtree, arguably the best receiver in the country?! I feel we definitely played well enough to win, unfortunately the team the Huskers can beat every week is themselves. This is a rebuilding year, and when we get some linebackers we will be tough to stop. I know Joe Ganz will take full responsibility for the loss, as he played well all day and one mistake cost us. He SHOULD have taken the sack and gone with two more downs. MY question is why we were lining up in shotgun formation in OT, when we were having so much success on the ground and with the play action pass. THAT is fully on the shoulders of Shawn Watson...what, Shawn, is Bill Callahan paying you under the table? Still, a great performance and if we'd have played this well last week at HOME Missouri would not be sounding off (and they're having a little trouble tonight with Okie State). At least I can smile knowing the bookies took a bath today...everything they made last week was gone today!

Posted by: Husker Fan on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:38 PM
Hey "wonder", I wonder how a bunch of college athletes would critique you? And for goodness sake, how about you give a bit of respect for the Texas Tech team, oh wait, that would mean you would have to show some for the school you presumeably support. Stay strong Huskers, we see the effort we see the improvement and your fans support you!

Posted by: J on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:12 PM
Great effort today. This is the improvement we are looking for after last year. With the exception of the egg to Mizzou, this team has showed the type of effort that last year was lacking. Play with this heart and the winning ways will eventually return. Go Huskers!

Posted by: Husker Suzz on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:03 PM
TO DIANE! Did you pay any attention to the game? Ganz was right on target all night long. He did great until is "fatal mistake". Last I checked he threw for over 90% of his throws at about 390 yards. That is not something to stick your nose up at. These kids play to play the game, whereas NFL players play for money. Cut the kid some slack will ya? At least he has heart!

Posted by: Brian on Oct 11, 2008 at 08:00 PM
What an exciting game!!! I really wish they would of one the game but hey that was some excellent playing. I'm glad they kept up with Tech. Keep playing this way and make slight improvments!

I could not be happier with today's performance! They played with so much heart and soul that when the game ended, I felt their pain. Kudos to Pelini, for what you have done to make those boys play with passion again! Win or lose, I will always bleed RED! It sickens me to see so many "Fair Weather Fans". Nebraska's football program went through the ringer and we sank. Now that we have our old traditions coming back, give them support. It will be more than just one season before any of you see what Pelini can really do! GO BIG RED!!!

Posted by: Sally on Oct 11, 2008 at 07:35 PM
Couple of things 1 bo great job you look a lot more profesanal on the sidelines without that tacky gray jersey great job on your new outfit. 2nd how nuch does ganz get paid for throwing games away ,3 O couch should go when you domunate a game in time of possesin like that and blow it in ot thats uncalled for the game was yours.

Great gameplan today Coaches!!! Coach Pelini, you had the plan to win. Great play by most today!!! Some respect earned. Now, it's unfortunate though that some players still show that they were recruited and "coached" by Bill Callahan and his staff of losers. Poor decision making, lack of discipline...I feel bad for the new coaching staff and the players who are giving 100% to their coaching. It'll all come around once Billy's boys are all gone and sacking groceries somewhere. Then Pelini's men will be able to bring the Cornhuskers back to the promise land. Thanks Coach Pelini! I really am glad you're here!!!!

Posted by: Jason on Oct 11, 2008 at 06:45 PM
Wow, that is about the best offensive performance of the season. Just wish our defense would have showed up for the game. How many big plays did they give up? I lost track that is not a good thing. Just for a question to go around "Is it good to have a family member as your defensive coach?" Looks to me like Bo and him have been seeing differently on plays so who is calling them. I think if Bo is the Head Coach then he should not be doing the job of the Defensive Coach. Bo should be just overseeing the team. If the defensive coach can't do his job then it is time for a different one. Good job team on not giving up today!!

Posted by: Jeff on Oct 11, 2008 at 06:44 PM
Nice game today. The team showed some real improvement. Pelini coached a great game. I was finally on the edge of my seat watching a husker game, Nice job today. Lucky played great, he should get the bulk of the carries.

SPARE ME THE "GOOD EFFORT" MALARKEY. HOGWASH. THE HUSKERS BLEW THAT GAME AGAINST A MARGINAL TEAM, OVERRATED AT NUMBER SEVEN, WITH PATHETIC COVERAGE ON AN ALL AMERICAN RECEIVER AND STUPID STUPID PENALTIES, AND OF COURSE, THE EXTREMELY UNTIMELY INTERCEPTION BY GANZ WHICH WE CAN NOW COUNT ON LIKE CLOCKWORK EACH GAME. NO! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. THIS PATIENCE WHILE WE REBUILD HAS GONE ON LONG ENOUGH. MILLIONS POURED INTO THE FACILITIES, STADIUM, PROGRAM, COACHING, ETC. IN SOME CASES AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHER SPORTS AND EDUCATION! OTHER TEAMS GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER IN A LOT LESS TIME WITH A LOT LESS REVENUE. IT'S PRODUCE TIME. OK game. Bet the fans will say Ganz has to go next. Let's see last week Bo, this week Ganz...Oline played good, secondary impressive, however I agree with Stan on all points except making samwiches is pretty complex stuff, what with all the options and stuff...

The Huskers have an inept defense who give up too many big plays, lead the league in penalties and a quarterback who makes very bad decisions under pressure. This is why they can't win big games anymore. I am tired of it.

GREAT JOB HUSKERS... Those so called Husker Fans that thought you would get blown out 70-10... I picked you to win 42-41 but I will take this loss and keep going because you guys did excellent... I was impressed the way nebraska controlled the ball and actually allowed themselves a chance to win it. I thought the 4th down call in the second quarter hurt nebraska and I think that outcome would have been different if they did not get horrible calls and placements... But you cannot blame the refs for losing... As for Joe Ganz... Way to play your heart out and thank you for making it a close one... Interceptions happen... Pick your head up and play the way you did today the rest of the year... hopefully we will see you on sunday!!!

Stan..something tells me you were either a filure as an athlete or a big enough loser that you could not even make a intramural team. Or lost money on the game. Fact is Ganz is human he will make mistakes. And I can assume you are not even capable of holding his jock strap. Leave him alone and stop criticizing him. Or send him your name and offer him a competition and see who can pass and who can't. Oh and by the way I am not a Husker fan, just can't stand armchair QB's like yourself.

This was an amazing comeback game for the Big Red! Although we didn't come out with a win, we showed all our worst critics we are capable of greatness! GO BIG RED!

Huskers, hold your heads high, you showed up and played hard today, were there mistakes, sure, but it was an exciting game and a huge bounce back after last week! True husker fans are proud of your efforts!! Go get em next week!! Stan, perhaps you should consider finding another team to "support", you obviously aren't a Husker fan!

same manure different toilet. Ganz throws a catastrophic interception. Do you not learn from your mistakes?

Hey, Murillo, you don't have to be a Subway sandwich artist to figure out you should PROBABLY shadow Michael Crabtree. Also, O-line, how many times are you going to shoot your team in the foot with your boneheaded offsides calls? Inexcusable, absolutely, inexcusable. Get your stuff together.
