Chase Daniel threw three TD passes and Derrick Washington ran for 139 yards and scored three times as the fourth-ranked Tigers beat Nebraska 52-17 Saturday night for their first win in Lincoln since 1978.

The 35-point defeat was the Huskers' most lopsided home loss in 53 years and fifth-worst in Lincoln in the program's 119-year history. "I'm not used to losing," said NU coach Bo Pelini. "I'm not used to getting beat soundly. It's my fault."

"Damn right, yes, I'm embarrassed. I apologized to the team. I apologize to the state of Nebraska. I apologize to everyone associated with Nebraska football. "It's my responsibility. I was hired to do a job and I didn't do the job tonight. Anything else need to be said?"

Missouri scored the first four times it had the ball, then went up 31-7 on Brock Christopher's 16-yard interception return late in the second quarter.

Missouri (1-0 Big 12) is unbeaten through five games for the third year in a row. Nebraska (3-2, 0-1) is winless in 10 straight against opponents ranked in the Top 10.

The Tigers upset second-ranked Nebraska 35-31 to deny the Huskers a national title shot 30 years ago, Missouri's last victory in Lincoln. "That wasn't just about the 2008 football team," said Missouri coach Gary Pinkel. "It's about 30 years of fans from around the world and a lot of former Missouri players. It's pretty good to get a win at one of the toughest places to play in the country."

Missouri ended two long road losing streaks on its march to the Big 12 North title last year, winning at Colorado for the first time since 1997 and at Kansas State for the first time since 1989. But it was the losing streak in Lincoln that has dogged the Tigers longest.

"I hope we made the nation of Tiger fans proud of us," Daniel said. "Right now it feels good, but down the road I'm sure it will mean more. We're focused on this game so we'll enjoy it."

The Tigers were as good as, or better than, they were in beating three non-BCS opponents before starting Big 12 play.

Three of their scoring drives lasted less than two minutes, giving them 17 such drives for the season. And their No. 1 offense extended its streak of no three-and-out possessions to 49.

"We didn't punt today, that's hard to believe," said Pinkel. "We're going to have to work hard on that in practice because that's not reality."

Pelini said earlier in the week that his team's goal was to shut out a Mizzou offense that came in averaging 54 points and 596 yards a game. That bluster was blown away in a hurry.

Daniel found Jeremy Maclin on a short slant on the third play of the game and Maclin turned it into a 58-yard touchdown to continue the Tigers' streak of scoring on their first possession in each game this season.

Nebraska came right back with Joe Ganz rolling out and hitting Nate Swift with a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Daniel, who was 18-of-23 for 253 yards, led the Tigers on three impressive scoring drives. A personal foul and pass interference penalty helped fuel a quick 80-yard drive that Washington finished with a 3-yard run. Jeff Wolfert kicked a 48-yard field goal and Jimmy Jackson scored on a 1-yard run to end a 75-yard march.

Down 24-7 and facing third-and-14 at his own 16, Ganz tried to force a pass to Menelik Holt, but Christopher stepped in front from his linebacker spot and went in for a score.

Ganz finished 26-of-38 for 290 yards and two touchdowns, the last one a meaningless 20-yarder to Holt as time expired.

The Huskers, who hadn't been beaten so bad since Oklahoma shut them out 41-0 in 1955, never gave themselves a chance to get back into the game, stalling repeatedly because of penalties or turnovers.

Daniel said he took great satisfaction in the five-touchdown margin of victory. He said a Nebraska player spit on him before the game. "I'm not going to say who it was. He knows who it is. That's bush league. That's blatant disrespect."

Daniel called Nebraska one of the "dirtiest" teams he's played. "You have to settle it out on the field and I think we more than did that tonight."

All you people do is sit around your computer and wait for a husker news article to come out so you can say how much you can't stand the team & how crappy the fans are. Good work.... You people are lame. Maybe it's time to get a new hobby.

nebraska is one of the many teams that used to be elite now they are mediocre

We must face the fact that Mizzou came to our house with alot of fire and spite and let the boys have it. No excuses can be made for being prepared and outplaying your opponent. It's only coach Bo's first shot and T.O. is not his play caller or psychologist. For God's sake give the guy a chance to get with the program and stopped badmouthing his attire. There is tremendous talent in this Husker team and he hasn't had to exert the discipline until seeing some concern. He is a good man and needs some more time to work his magic...As for the players, they need to buckle down the strap on thier helmets and prove that they are a Husker caliber team. Please leave the anger in last weeks newspaper where it belongs. Light it up and go down to Texas on fire. Husker nation is still behind you in my neighborhood.

Okay, we could all go around and around about this for days. I think my point is being missed. I never commented on the fans nor the coach nor if I truly cared if they lost or not - and I'm not making any excuses for the team. You're right, they're pretty terrible right now. I was only saying that it will be a long time before very many teams will be able to compare to NU's history. That is something that the Husker Nation should always be proud of. Unfortunately, we have so many situations of crisis in this country, maybe this is where we should all be putting some of our energy (me included). In the whole scheme of things - football really doesn't matter all that much! I'm not a diehard fan, just wanted to point out the facts. Everyone has a right to their own opinions. That's it for me... time to put my energy in a place where it may actually do some good!

Rick. As a Jayhawk fan, I can't believe I'm going to be defending a mizzou fan, but I feel that I should. You say that mizzou will never be as good as nebraska ever was. Well, you are probably right. mizzou probably wont win 3 national titles in 4 or 5 years time. But it's time to quit looking at the past and look at the prsent. I think the statement should be, I don't think Nebraska will be as good as mizzou is now. You think that KU and mizzou will quake in their boots just because of what we did to you in the past. Well, look what both of us have done to you in the past two seasons. Oh by the way, KU is going to break it's losing streak to NU in Lincoln like mizzou did this year as well. Keep enjoying those championship trophies from the 90's because that is all you are ever going to see again. Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

    Bo must Go!!!

Posted by: Shana on Oct 6, 2008 at 04:32 PM
My point is Laura, that when the Huskers lose you all cry and make excuses for the team. Yet WHEN the win you portray them as the all mighty God. The stadium started with over 85,000 fans. Yet when half time came, and it was obvious that the Huskers were going to get spanked, half of the so called Husker fans left. Maybe if the fans showed more support they would do better. Yet if you got rid of that so called coach...they would do better. The Huskers USE TO BE a good team years ago but that is now gone. when it's over...it's over. They will never be what they were when Tom Osbourne was coach...IT'S OVER FOR THE HUSKER LEGACY!

Posted by: josh on Oct 6, 2008 at 03:59 PM
Wow, who is the team whinning? i heard the huskers were cheated by the ref's, Chase Daniels whats next? the sun was in their face last time i checked footall is football sack up Huskers its 2008 not the 90's your program is over for years to come... get use to it, 5-7 is a dream now they stink and will for years... has the man,the legend Bo givin the other team now 30 yards in the last 2 games or was it just me... how is that stud Lawerance Phillips doing, he is a husker great right?

Posted by: Mike on Oct 6, 2008 at 11:25 AM
Your a soar loser. It is 2008, Not the 90's. I didn't see all 85,000 fans in the stadium in the 4th quarter. Some true husker fans you have.

Posted by: Pat on Oct 6, 2008 at 10:21 AM
For 23yrs, Saint Tom Osborne played a weak schedule(10 cake games, and Oklahoma), then lost in a bowl game. He finally recruited thugs and gang members, and won 2 national championships. Now the Huskers play a real schedule, and so far it is not working out. When Texas Tech(former doormat) stomps the Huskers next week, please do not try to have Bo Pelini fired. He can turn around the program. Give him time. Nebraska may have to suffer thru a 3-9 season, Like Notre Dame(notice ND is 4-1 so far this yr), but Coach Pelini will get the type of players who can restore the glory to the red and white. Frank Solich was not given any chance succeed Saint Tom, and he averaged 10 win a yr. Give Bo Pelini a chance.....Rome was not built in a day, and Saint Tom won a national title in his Last two yrs as coach, not his first. Coach Devaney did the same thing.

Shana, Shana, Shana (and co.)... no tears here. Just stating the simple facts! Never in my comment did I state that the Huskers played well nor that the Tigers did not on Saturday night. That’s obvious! However, the fact of the matter is, there are very few teams out there that will ever measure up to NU’s winning history. I’m not dwelling on the past, again, just stating the simple facts folks. Sure, NU may not be playing well now – all teams have down times - even OU had a few struggling years in there. A couple of beatings by Missouri – woohoo. Now, in thirty years if the Tigers have beaten the Huskers at home consecutively(as we did them) - then we can talk (if we’re even still around by then). THAT WAS MY POINT TO BEGIN WITH!

Posted by: Bluejay on Oct 6, 2008 at 07:14 AM
Problems with the D last year have spread to the offense and special teams this year, with poor line play, no running game and three yard punts. The first three games against cupcakes did not show off the true Huskers. Now that they are in the Big XII season, they will get their butts kicked week after week. Given the lack of discipline and execution, I am afraid that TO is 0-2 in head coaching choices.

Posted by: Rick on Oct 5, 2008 at 11:22 PM
Oh yeah, one other thing about NU fans being the worst fans, last time I checked it takes fans to sell out stadiums, NU fans have been going to games through good and bad times regardless. Most Missouri fans haven't been Missouri fans until recently and most are only jealous of how well NU fans support the program.

Posted by: C.J. on Oct 5, 2008 at 11:20 PM
You know, you might wanna try looking at other teams' schedules once in a while, there are other football teams in the world. Missouri and Oklahoma do not play this season based on the rotation of Big 12 South opponents. This year they play Texas, Baylor, and Oklahoma State. Maybe take a look at the shhcedule before you say something. So if the Tigers play Oklahoma this year, it'll be for the Big 12 title again. Personally I'm hoping that Texas can pull something out against the Sooners this weekend. The Tigers will have a better chance against them.

Here is another NEWS FLASH! Missouri has and never will be as good as Nebraska ever was. Can anyone tell me how many national championships Missouri has? How many does Nebraska have? Thank you and goodnight now.

Wow, what excuse do the Huskers have today?

Posted by: Gabe on Oct 5, 2008 at 07:57 PM
Your right, why give Pelini a chance. Fire him. He's only just started his head coaching career, has a family, actually wants the job (which I didn't seem to remember coaches fighting in line over) and is willing to at least spend the time and effort to try and bring the program back to dominance. What would you people be saying if Turner Gill got the job? Fire him after five games? Give up on him after five games? Man, it's a good thing everything is right in the world so we (me included) can all worry and get upset about something as important as college football.

Posted by: Benjamin on Oct 5, 2008 at 07:46 PM
Nebraska got their rears kicked, Bo's fault.....Shootings and killings and gangs in North Omaha, the mayors fault.....people loosing their homes to financial institutions, the banks fault.....What ever happened to being responsible for your own personal actions. Give me a break!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 5, 2008 at 03:41 PM
Funny thing is, Nebraska fans have been saying this since Solich got fired..."give us time, we'll be back to the way it used to be"...NEWS FLASH: Nebraska will NEVER be as good as they were under TO...NEVER...those days of having three or four elite schools are over, in todays game you have to take the ups with the downs and unfortunately for Nebraska it's time to see what it is like to be a cellar-dwellar and I think they will be for a few years in the B12

Posted by: Sheila on Oct 5, 2008 at 01:26 PM
Nebraska should be ashamed of the poor sportsmanship shown by thr Huskers-players & coaches. It's easy to be proud when you are winning but the true show of character is now you act as underdogs and in defeat. Bo needs to work on this as it will be happening more and more.

Posted by: Todd on Oct 5, 2008 at 01:19 PM
The only way I can take this loss is to see the Cubs lose in three. However, NU will win only one more game this year. The next winning season will be when gas is under $2.50 per gallon or when have a honest politician. The days of Big Red rolling died with scholarships being limited and college sports became a multi-million dollar business.

Posted by: J on Oct 5, 2008 at 11:46 AM
Hahaha. You people saying give Bo time are the same ones the were saying give Callahan time. Face it people, the Huskers days are over. Top level recruits just don't want to come here anymore.

Posted by: BRIAN on Oct 5, 2008 at 11:03 AM
WELL SOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR SAVIOR BO PELINI!!!! YOU PEOPLE ARE THE WORST FANS IN THE WORLD. MAYBE MICKEY MOUSE COULD RUN YOUR PROGRAM BETTER. BO KNOWS DIDDLY!! GOOD LUCK BEING THE BOTTOM DEWELLERS OF THE BIG 12. GOOOOOOOOOOOO! SOONERS NOW THERES ARE REAL FOOTBALL PROGRAM.

Posted by: Gabe on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:56 AM
Some of you realists out there remember that this is Callahan's mess that Pelini has to train, mold and mature. I'd say Bo's doing a decent job for his 5TH GAME of his FIRST YEAR. Anyone expecting a die-hard Nebraskan's definition of a "winning" season is smoking crack! Give this staff four or five more years to train and replace the Callahan recruits, then judge them. You did it for Callahan, you at least owe Pelini the same. It's not like NU is the only team going through this right now. Look at Miami, Florida State, Penn State, and others. Recruiting HAS changed. These kids know that they can go to some of the other schools in the conference and get major playing time instead of benching it and waiting it out. Give it time. Being a Denver Broncos and Oregon Ducks fan, I'm used to losing. I've accepted it as part of the process and my patience has been rewarded in the past. Thank you Elway and Dixon (we almost made it)! Husker Nation, ya better get used to it too. Go Ducks!

Daniel's is a cry baby. The only reason that he was complaining was because he got knocked down hard a few times, that is football, they did the same thing to Ganz. I think MU needs to look at how they play, they have been a dirty football team for years. NU is by far out of their league right now in the Big 12. We are going to struggle the rest of the year. That is the result of solid recruting by the previous coaching regime. These players for the last 4 years had it easy with lack practices and no work on fundamental work, it is going to take a year to get that all back, and change there lacks mindset that was instilled over the last 4 years.

Posted by: Uncle Joe on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Man...Im ashamed to even live next door to nebraska..not only are the players a bunch of bums (spitting) there fans are ignorant as well....excuses excuses excuses....if it makes you feel better to say "it will take some time to turn it around" thats fine but its just not that simple ..its over ....might as well forfeit the rest of the games ...its going to get ugly ...but they might sneak up to 6 wins cause of the cakewalk schedule they booked themselves might go to the toilet bowl and fans will consider that a success ..lol..by the way dont teams play on the road once in a while...man it going to get ugly

Posted by: Gary on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:35 AM
Randall did Bo spit on anyone? I doubt it so why dont you shut your mouth! Furthermore you and people like you need to get out of this state. You make me seriously Ill. I think BO has guts jumping into a mess like he did.I also think he is the right man for the job.I was at the game and I will continue to support my team no matter what, and in two to three years when the old war-wagon is back out there punishing anything that gets in its path, people like you better not even think about calling yourself a HUSKER.

Posted by: paul on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:20 AM
we got rid of Frank because the running game was a thing of the past. We bring in Callahan to change it into the passing game. We needed to give him more time. Now Bo to bring back the running game. Which doesn't exist in college football any more if you want to win. We need to be patient as fans or it will never work. The recruiting will be out of sync. Different schemes every 4 years with different coaches. A never ending cycle. We DO need to develop the passing game, or we won't win. The power run is a thing of the past, and that's where we are headed again. That's what the fans wanted. Wake up. This isn't 1982.

Posted by: Ben on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Bo or Osborne needs to find the player that spit on Chase Daniel and suspend him indefinately. There is no need for such disgusting and child like behavior. Especially now that its known throughout the country. Daniel says that Nebraska is one of the "dirtiest teams" he's played. Oh my gosh! Whats happening here?

Posted by: Terry on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:12 AM
    I thought Bo knew.

Posted by: BJ on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:12 AM
People, people, people....Bo is not the second comming of Christ. This team just dosen't have it. The lack of talent is obvious. You cant turn a CAB DRIVER INTO A BRAIN SURGEON if he dosen't have the "natural" talent or desire or ability! Nebraska is just another college football team. And until we get the RIGHT recruits and football players who are "naturals" we will continue to be just another college football team.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 5, 2008 at 10:09 AM
It isn't getting any easier for the Nebraska defense next week. I wonder if Texas Tech's stadium has a third digit for the score?

Posted by: Mike on Oct 5, 2008 at 09:57 AM
There is a reason that things will never be the same for Nebraska as they were in the 90's. While the Cornhuskers were sucking it up for the last four years under Billy C. all of the other teams across the country not only caught up but past Nebraska in every aspect of the game. Now Nebraska has to play catch up and will need to work twice as hard to catch up with everyone else. Not only now do you have to look out for the Texases and Oklahomas, but also the Kansases and Iowa States of the world. It will NEVER be a cake walk for Nebraska as it once was. You will never again be able to just show up to the game and expect to win. I think that is what happened last week against VA Tech. I also think that Nebraska was so wrapped up in the, "missouri has not defeated Nebraska in Lincoln since 1978" thing that they were hoping the ghosts of the past would help them win. Nebraska fans, it will be a few years before you even hope to have a chance to even win the Big 12 north.

Posted by: Mike on Oct 5, 2008 at 09:48 AM
The fairytale season Nebraska fans had planned this year to be is over. I told Nebraska fans over and over this year that they have worse players this year than last year. Coaching can only do so much. If a team does not have the players, it will start to show, and it did against VA Tech. Nebraska gave up 35 points to a team who cannot score. That was the most points VA Tech has scored on anyone this season. Furman University only gave up 24 points against VA Tech. People have also told me that Nebraska can hit now and that will tranlate into an 8 to 10 win season. I look at Nebraska's schedule and I think the only teams they have a chance to beat are Baylor and maybe k-state. With the way Iowa State played KU yesterday, I dont think Nebraska will have a chance against them. I predict another 5-7 season.

Is there any more to be said ? Actually Bo, Yes there is. It won't happen again ? At this point, I need more than your Bluster and attitude. You and your Brother looked terrible last nite and looked like you didn't have a method. A good team plays their own game. Each week you try to out guess the other team. That's amateur coaching. You were handed a good offense. (at least Callahan did do that) You're not using it to it's potential. The defense needs alot of coaching. Your Brother is NOT a great defensive Coordinator. It's looking like you aren't either. Those players are not near as bad as they look. They need a plan and not confusion. They need consistency and good coaching. You didn't show any of that last nite. Discipline is nowhere on your team. That comes from YOU! Not only do you have a shload of penalites, you also have spitting on highly regarded QB. Chase called NE the dirtiest team they play. Is it your fault ? YES IT IS. In NE you have to earn the job.

Posted by: Richard on Oct 5, 2008 at 09:29 AM
To those that are upset about the loss and taking it out on the coaches, grow up! Its not the coaches fault even though bo said it was after the game. Its going to take time folks and 1 or 2 years is not enough. Atleast we played a top ranked team.

I remember when announcers who covered games in the past called NU fans some of the best in the nation. HA! So why were they all leaving in the 3rd quarter??? Weather not so 'fair' anymore? Babies.

I just hope people give bo a chance, give him 5 years to turn this program around. The huskers lossed because of the talent level, not because of BO. I hope solich is loving this. And to be honest people, the huskers wont be winning very many games this year due to the talented teams we face. I say 2 more games, maybe. Go huskers!

Posted by: Bob on Oct 5, 2008 at 09:16 AM
I can't believe we gave them over 100 yards in penalties! That's 1 touchdown we just gave them! Maybe we should get the jailbirds off of the field and let the clean players play!

Posted by: Roger on Oct 5, 2008 at 09:05 AM
What a lackluster performance, this team still can't tackle. Bo needs to hit the recuriting trail and find a defense that knows how to tackle. He also needs to cut ties with the remaining Callahan coaching staff. I would suggest brining Solich back he would have this group of runnings backs averaging over 100 yards a game each.

Posted by: chicago on Oct 5, 2008 at 08:55 AM
Missouri saying Nebraska plays dirty is pretty rich. Over 4 decades of Missouri players and fans as the dirtiest in the conference MIssouri fans who throw glass bottles at the opposing team's band- what a bunch of babies.

Posted by: Al on Oct 5, 2008 at 08:50 AM
Was this a high school basketball game or what? Can't really tell the differance by the score! At least Missouri backed off so it didn't get out of hand. I'm afraid it's only going to get worse from here. Perhaps the Huskers should change leagues, and then they would get better quicker! They are not ready for the Big 12!

Posted by: Sooner Fan on Oct 5, 2008 at 08:42 AM
The Tigers have a better team, this year. They get to try and win something again this year. They won't go far however, never do. They will hit the brick wall when they play a team that is actually put together. Beat either Texas or the Sooners for once and you have my respect. Outside of that, the Tigers have a freak streak that is not unlike a few other teams we have seen around the nation. Tradition is built over years, not a few good games. Huskers still really sucks though, but that is just expected for a few years. Tigers win would have been better is they had actually played a worthy opponent.

Come on Husker fans We know better. Did we REALLY expect a great season this year after was Callahan and Pedersen did to the system? Not really. It takes awhile. I figure probably 2010. We'll be ok. Hang in there.

LOL... all I have to say is let the whinning begin from all of you so called Nebraska fans! The weather is no longer fair is sunny it's starting to get dark and stormy guess it's time for the fans to leave! LOL I loved all of the booing too when the calls didn't go your way too..classic Before you go off of Colorado getting there butts kicked too ( yea they did I admit it )but I think 35 points are more than 24 points too. I'm not going to get down on my team they are a very young team still coming together. So if any of you want to bash me over the Buffs getting there butts whomped bring it on! You know why I can cheer on other teams in Colorado like the Broncos, Avalanche, Rockies.. What else do you Fusker fans have to cheer on in this state? Hmmmm.. nothing! So good game Buffs I enjoyed the game and there is next week...GO BUFFS! By the way Fusker fans you can go to your local Walmart stores and get some hankies I think they may be on special.

I am personally glad Missouri won-they deserved the victory. What is most upsetting is that Nebraska players are dirty, immature and disrespectful. Tom would not have allowed the behavior. Nebraska's reputation of having proud yet well behaved players and fans is more important that victorys and is sadly being spoiled.

While I am not a Husker fan, there were some bright spots during the first half. Don't feel bad because the Huskers lost, they're rebuilding! It takes time--look at what happened to Notre Dame last season--they fell completely apart and only won 3 games! Keep your chins up and believe your team will come back some day. But Bo does need to keep that temper under control or the players won't get any better.

Best play I ever saw vs. Missouri was when that Nebraska player punched one of their stupid fans a few years ago. I watch that every now and then for entertainment.

Not a great day for NU fans. I can remember people second guessing TO as well but he got it done. Did NU look sloppy? Yep. Do we have the players we've had in the past? Not at this time but I think down the line that will change. Missouri looks awful good right now, really clicking on offense and defense too. Nobody likes to wait but it takes time to build a program. Things aren't going to get easier either. TTech, Oklahoma, Kansas and CU won't be gimme's either. This could easily be a .500 season. I believe it will work out in a few years. But not this season. As for the spitting incident that is a really despicable thing to do, Lincoln is not known for that, really sad.

Pelini is not disciplined enough himself to be able to instill discipline into a team. He has no class. Our team Spitting on another team ? Getting called out by a Class Act QB who says this is the dirtiest team they have played. All the Huskers have is alot of crappy attitude and a cocky coach. Pelini is not ready to be a head coach. Osborne caved into fan pressure for this guy....he should have gone with his gut. The Football program is too important. We're not just losing games , we are losing respect for the whole program , period .

Once again the Huskers prove they can't stand toe-to-toe with the big boys. Different Coach = Same Results. Replace the N on the helmet with a large L (Loser).

oh laura...the "years" are over!! wake up and smell the big 12!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 5, 2008 at 05:36 AM
Typical. NU begins with an easy schedule against lower ranked teams. Then their inflated egos take over and they start losing. What will happen when they lose home-field advantage?

Posted by: Barry on Oct 5, 2008 at 03:43 AM
Recruiting will be fine. It'll take some time to repair the damage to the program that Callahan left behind. I support Bo all the way. Are you complainers REALLY Husker fans?? Of course it's a bummer to lose, but these next few years is when the Huskers really need the true fans to stand behind them, and give some encouragement. We'll get there folks, but you need to exercise a little patience. I just love watching the Huskers play, win or lose.

Posted by: Scott on Oct 5, 2008 at 03:38 AM
The coaching staff is NOT the problem. It is the players on the field who did not deliver. It was polite for Pelini to shoulder the blame. Only half of the problem was corrected last November when the previous coaching staff was let go. The other half is still here. I am talking about players that Baylor and UNO would not even offer scholarships to. Let's be honest and real about this. These players have heart but they lack athletic ability. I will not mention players by name, but it is very obvious who they are. Gotta love 'em, because they are trying. But the end result was on the scoreboard. I predict that we will lose to Texas Tech next week and to Oklahoma later on. We should win the other games and go 8-4 in the regular season.

HA-HA-HA. What a joke. Tom shouldnt have left. It just went town hill from there. They shouldnt give the team false hopes by playing no name teams for the first 2 games.

Posted by: LSU Fan on Oct 5, 2008 at 01:47 AM
im not suprised by this seasons its all callahans recruits wait till 4 years till its all bo's recruits, at least hes taken responsibility for being outcoached

Posted by: Dan on Oct 5, 2008 at 01:39 AM
Oh they said o'l Polini was going to make something of the team. Even wrote a book. The guy looks like a jerk and they have fired many coaches before for bad performance. They brought this guy in here and he chews his gum and basically looks like a jerk. Who even cares at this point? We are a bunch of losers and we always will be. I actually got to a point this evening where I wanted Missouri to score as many points as possible.

i laugh at all these missouri fans. I mean you gotta give missouri credit they are very good but come on you beat a crap team lets see what happens when u play oklahoma.

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 5, 2008 at 01:30 AM
Yes Missouri has a good team, but they will be kicked by Oklahoma. Missouri will be one and done after this year, so enjoy the bashing as you don't understand what winning and losing with grace means. This coaching staff will do a good job for Nebraska, and yes TO did make the right choice, but you can't change attitudes over night. With a little time and discipline Nebraska will return to the traditions that we love - winning. I look forward to those days, and then watching to see what how well Missouri handles being on the losing side.

Well, another Husker loss. So what wass that about wanting to hurt Chase Daniel? Laughable. Mizzou could've easily put up 70 had they wanted to run up the score and be considered a classless team, kinda like a certain one in red that everyone around here seems to love. Its gonna be a few years before these games get competitive again. People need to quit living in what were the glory days and get in the present where you're at best a second tier team in the Big 12. Things are cyclical. Eventually Missouri will fall, but I don't think that when they do it'll be a decades long affair either. They're finally getting national attention and thus higher level recruits. Nebraska is in a state of flux/rebuilding right now, and fans need to accept that.

Where's your messiah noooowwwwwwww. So Bo cant walk on water after all. Give him 5 years everything will be gumdrops and rainbows.

Posted by: Randall on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:49 AM
Nice going Bo and co. Not only do you get your butt handed to you, but you get embarrassed on national TV for the second week in a row. That should do wonders for recruiting. I just read the recap on ESPN. Spitting on the visiting team before the game? Nice hire, Tom. Bo really seems to know the 'Nebraska Way', and is instilling a sense of class into this program. Lucky for Nebraska that it seems Missouri seemed to call off the dogs. It looked like it was going to turn into another one of those 70 point games.

Posted by: Laura on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:41 AM
We played against a very good team and I dont know how we could of beat them. MikeD is right, Bo and his staff needs time. Its his first year here and it might take a couple of years to get Nebraska to where it once was. I am not giving up on the Huskers

Posted by: Boliever on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:36 AM
I agree with MIkeD. Give Bo a few years and we are going to be just like we were. Once again we are left with Callahans messed up ideas. Let Bo get the recruits he wants in and give it time. Also let him get his own quarterback recruit in. We are going to turn around

Posted by: ANON on Oct 5, 2008 at 12:34 AM
Another sad day in HUSKERVILLE. Maybe we should get rid of the coach. Seems like a trend for the past losses.

Posted by: MIkeD on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Bo and his staff will get this program turned around but it's not going to happen overnight. The last coach left us with quite a mess.

Posted by: Scott on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:46 PM
Wooohoooo...Ted is completely right, as demonstrated by Laura; "We squashed Missouri for years and years and years". Ooops, missed that last "year". Ok whiners, come and serve it up. We have another 5 years until we can even hope to be a serious condender for B12 North, LET ALONE be in the picture for a BCS Bowl. Think I'll go night night, wake me when reality hits, or hell freezes over..

GO BIG RED!!! Ha Ha Ha. Laura, go back to sucking your thumb and dreaming. The days of the Huskers are over, get used to it.

Posted by: Jim on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:38 PM
People just need to realize that thehuskers are not very good. They try their butts off the entire game, the heart is there, talent just is not, people need to stop thinking they are going to win every single game, its not gonna happen!!!!!!!! The time will come again and the huskers will be good, just need to wait.

Posted by: Shana on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:38 PM
Laura, Laura, Laura...you are one of those Nebraska fans who cries when they lose? They played horrible! The amount of penalties that Nebraska got was awful. Stop making excuses for Nebraska football and realize that they DO NOT know how to play football. Missouri played to perfection...maybe Nebraska could use some tips from Missouri.

Posted by: laura on Oct 4, 2008 at 11:12 PM
Hey Shana... move to Missouri! Nebraska's time is coming again. We SQUASHED Missouri for years and years and years and years!!! I suppose it's time Mizzou wins a game or two against Nebraska while they can cuz the tables will turn soon. NU had decades of winning seasons so we know how glory feels. Missouri not so much.. enjoy your short lived victories!

Posted by: Ted on Oct 4, 2008 at 10:56 PM
The football team sucks. It's recruiting. I love my 'huskers, but nobody wants to come to a state that is so type-cast as the off-spring of those attending the "deliverance" movie. That is most annoying to myself, as it is to anybody else living in Nebraska. As soon as recruitment offices start selling the point that the most intelligent speaking, the most intelligent acting, the most intelligent investing people live in the Midwest, well, come on, we will not have to vote our beloved Huskers down to the level of playing the UNO Mavericks. Huh. Now that I think about it. NO. As long as we don't play them, we'll never lose to them, genious!

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 4, 2008 at 10:52 PM
Man the huskers need to learn to tackle and cover receivers

Posted by: Shana on Oct 4, 2008 at 10:06 PM
Half time report...SO FAR SO GOOD!!!!!! I loved that interception that Missouri got...just LOVED it!
