Bobby Scales and Felix Pie homered before the Cubs scored seven times in the fourth inning on their way to a 10-4 rout of the Royals in Des Moines on Tuesday night.

Casey McGehee led off the fourth with a single. Josh Kroeger followed with a run-scoring double to put Iowa up 3-0.

Koyie Hill struck out swinging, but reached first on a wild pitch by Matt Wright (3-5). Luis Figueroa then singled home a run for a 4-0 lead. Andres Torres walked to load the bases and Pie singled to plate another run.

Tyler Lumsden replaced Wright, but the hits just kept on coming. Micah Hoffpauir singled home two runs making it 7-0. Jason Dubois followed with another single scoring Pie.

Bobby Scales grounded into a force out at second for the first out of the inning. McGehee, who got the inning started with a single, singled again scoring Hoffpauir for a 9-0 advantage.

Lumsden struck out Kroeger and threw out Hill at first to stop the bleeding.

Gookie Dawkins homered and Mitch Maier and Brayan Pena doubled in runs for Omaha.
