The Huskers collapsed under the heat of a seven-run run eighth inning by Missouri as they fell 8-1 in the opener of a weekend series in Columbia.

NU was aiming for its 40th win of the season, hoping to catch Texas A&M in the conference standings.

Nebraska was on the board first in the opening frame on a Jake Mort home run, his first of the season.

The Tigers tied it up in the last of the 7th and thenblew it open in the 8th, scoring seven times.

Game two is Saturday at 2 p.m.
